Blue Fire Bowenwork

  A Bowenwork Session

Each Bowenwork session is always individualized to meet your needs. Your practitioner will gear their work according to where your body is unbalanced. The practitioner will usually start the treatment by doing some foundational work to open up the nerve pathways of your spine and relax your nervous system. Thereafter, the procedures used will be specific to your body.

Most importantly, remember, Bowenwork is holistic- so this is not just a treatment of symptoms. Your practitioner will do the minimal work possible as to not overload your body. More often than not, less is truly best.

What to expect the day of your session and after:

  • Allow one and a half hours for your first session and about an hour for follow-ups.

  • Wear or bring light-weight, loose fitting clothes that your practitioner can work through. Or you may choose to wear your underclothes and be professionally draped for modesty and comfort.

  • During your session, the practitioner will leave the room after each procedure in order to allow your body time to respond.

  • Following the session, some changes may be noticeable right away, such as reduced pain, greater range of motion, and a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.

  • You may notice changes over the next several days as your body continues the process that began during your session. Sound sleep and increased energy are commonly reported. It is important to stay hydrated during this time. It is not uncommon to feel old injuries, memories, and pains begin to resurface. DO NOT suppress these sensations. This is a sign your body is beginning to heal at a deeper level and it will pass usually within a couple of days.

  • Take Daily walks to improve circulation and free joint restrictions.

  • Rest and wait a week for your next session. All strenuous activity should be avoided that day of your treatment to give your body some time off. We always wait a week to do a follow-up session, except for athletes and those who are going through intense training.

  • Avoid other body therapies for several days after your session to ensure your body’s nervous system has no interruptions.

  • Often times, various stretches and exercises will be recommended to enhance and facilitate your healing. Healthy range of motion and movement in the musculo-skeletal system is also restored. This is an essential part of your care and will improve your results.

  • Your practitioner will determine your treatment plan during that first session. Your goals, current health, and response to the treatment, will dictate how many sessions are necessary. It is important you complete your treatment plan for the best results. And remember, sessions are scheduled no more than once a week.

  • Enjoy the transformation!

Different From the Rest

Bowenwork is unlike any other healing modality on the planet. The biggest distinction is that the Bowenwork therapist has very gentle and very little contact with the body. NO use of force or manipulation is used to “tell” the body what to do. This is why Bowenwork is considered to be a holistic therapy. Holistic implies treating the person as a whole to foster the regeneration and balancing of the mind, body and spirit.

Each movement and gentle touch that is delivered through Bowenwork, simply delivers a message or frequency to the body. That message is relayed through the soft tissues and into the brain. From there the brain interprets the information and then sends new neurological signals throughout every system in the body. Not only are the muscles and skeletal system affected, but so is everything else, like the adrenals and glands, hormone balance, digestive health and elimination, reproductive function, respiratory and circulatory function, lymphatic flow, etc.…..you get the picture. Every system in the body begins to reorganize and repair itself.

This is why our clients tend to have such excellent results. For instance, you may see a Bowenwork Practitioner because your shoulder hurts. Did you know that quite possibly your shoulder pain is connected to something else that is out of balance? Have you ever thought that maybe an old injury, postural imbalance or poor circulation could be contributing to it?

Bowenwork therapists always do assessments and make objective observations to see what else in the body could be affecting that shoulder. Bowenwork therapists also listen to the body and use their keen sense of tissue tension to determine where the body is blocked and needs to unwind. More often than not, once those key areas are unblocked, the shoulder and body will begin to heal.

Positive Changes
The changes one may experience after Bowenwork range from person to person. No two people are alike. We most commonly see:

increased calmness
pain and symptom reduction
improved digestion and elimination
decreased muscle spasms
deeper diaphragmatic breathing
decreased inflammation and swelling

a new awareness of one’s body
healing of old injuries and traumas
improved posture
increased circulation and lymph flow
improved assimilation and absorption of nutrients
The work is holistic and a full-body response is almost always felt. Sometimes a practitioner will focus on a specific area, but most often, the body is treated as a whole, so that all systems are affected to create balance.

It’s important to understand that Bowenwork is not a cure for any ailment. Instead, it activates the body’s own healing abilities. We have found through our experience and research that Bowenwork has assisted people with the following health complaints and more:

Bowenwork will help your body respond better to any therapy program you are currently going through. Whether it’s a nutritional program or body therapy. Many of our clients report that after receiving Bowenwork, their body has responded so well that they no longer need other bodywork to remain balanced and pain free.

We also find that Bowenwork is very effective for those needing rehabilitation after an injury. This includes sports injuries, falls, car accidents, emotional shock, etc. In fact, the sooner you receive Bowenwork after an injury or trauma, the better we are able to stimulate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system to speed up the healing process. We do however; suggest that you talk with your doctor first if you have any serious health conditions or new injuries.

What’s so EXCITING is that most clients report significant change within 2-4 sessions. Bowenwork is remarkable and often times long lasting.
